Panic Attacks

We have been endowed with an intuition for danger. This response to danger makes our bodies get prepared to fight for continued existence or run away until we are in a safer position. This response is called a fight or flight reaction. The strong emotions that occur from this can lead to panic attacks as we have no way of removing the excess adrenaline that is present due to the fight or flight reaction.

Panic attacks are an inflated situation owing to fear. Although a little fear is healthy, in panic attacks there is an overpowering amount of panic. The panic attack can come into our lives with no forewarning at all. There might be no valid motive why we get into a condition of panic, nevertheless once a panic attack happens it is incredibly intense and there is nothing that we can do about it.

There are a variety of symptoms found in a sufferer of panic attacks. A throbbing or beating heart, trouble in breathing, feeling as if you are struggling to get air, paralyzing fear, faintness, dizziness, sickness, trembling, extreme sweating, shivering, choking, chest pains, unexpected chills, and the crushing dread that you are going to die.

The symptoms that were given above are ones that we might encounter as a response to a seeming danger. In a panic attack these responses surface with no legitimate basis. They might just happen in situations that are in general safe and not dangerous. There are instances where a panic attack sufferer will have an attack at the same time as they are sleeping.

As panic attacks can happen rapidly and with no warning signs, there is in reality no way that they can be blocked once happening. The amounts of stress hormones and adrenaline that is released and the degree of fright that we experience in a panic attack is out of proportion to the real state of affairs. The only thing we can do is to try and control our extreme emotions through a variety of drugs and therapies.

While an individual is in the grasp of a panic attack, they go through a powerful and extreme amount of fear. As these emotions are tremendously intense, the few minutes that they last may seem like perpetuity.

For those of us who live regular lives fear is but a brief feeling. An individual who has panic attacks relives this panic continually each day. The only way out of this labyrinth is therapy and if you suffer from panic attacks be certain that there are numerous practical therapies out there and that with a little time and effort on your part you should be able to cure your panic attacks without too much bother.
